Power
Chords
Power chords are usually played with a distorted
electric
guitar in hard rock, heavy metal and punk.
The same chord can
either be 2 notes or 3 notes. The
3 note
version makes the power chords sound fuller by repeating the root note
an octave
higher.
The root of a
power chord is also like in barre chords but is not limited to the 6th
and 5th string only. In this case the lower
sounding note becomes
the root. They are written as 5th chords (e.g.
E5, G5, F5 etc)
